Gary Gapski's Testimonial

The Lord was long suffering with me until I was 27 years old. I was a successful salesman for a national company, had a beautiful wife and two precious children, but didn't appreciate what I had. All this began to crumble with my sin. Our marriage was in ruin. Only my stubbornness kept it together; so I thought.

My wife and I were desperately seeking something that was missing in our life: Jesus Christ. Neither of us knew it at the time, but the Lord was leading us to a point of decision. First, Cathy studied with the Jehovah Witnesses, which all I knew about them at the time was I hated them. So to prevent them from getting her, we jumped in together to become Seventh Day Adventists.

Meanwhile, the Lord put a saved gentleman, named Len, in our life. We realized the Seventh Day Adventist religion was not for us, so we decided to try Len's church, Allegheny Baptist Church. Pastor Ross was a wonderful and wise, elderly pastor, who came to our house and he led my wife, and supposedly me, to the Lord at our kitchen table. Yet I still had doubts.

We began to attend church regularly. I even played on the softball team. One Friday night, a teenager called me and asked me if I would come to a basketball marathon as their referee. During the devotion, I realized I was unsaved, and did not want to spend eternity in hell. I prayed with the preacher repenting of my sins and silently asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me. Then, the preacher asked for those who prayed salvation's prayer to stand up and come forward. Well, ten or fifteen teens went forward, along with one adult – me.

Praise the Lord for giving me the opportunity to accept what he did for me. I have been blessed to see my children saved. God healed my marriage and gave me two wonderful children who have surrendered their lives for full-time service. He's given me eternal life with Him. I can hardly remember what it was like not to know Jesus and nothing is better than this.
